Eggs Hatch at Rebecca Cheetham
Throughout our time spent looking at growth in the nursery (growth of ourselves, life cycle of a plant, metamorphosis of a caterpillar and the life cycle of a chicken, we adopted some "Living Eggs" so children could see, first hand the experience of chicks hatching from eggs.
The children have spent an exciting week watching our "living eggs" in their incubator and patiently awaiting them to hatch and bring joy and fluffiness to the world. We hosted both ducklings and chicks in our setting and it wasn't long before we saw the first few cracks emerge and the new life spring forth!
Please enjoy this video of the ducklings and chicks in action.
We are so excited that when the incubators are collected from the school, we will be keeping, on site, the female chicks who will find a home at Rebecca Cheetham Nursery. We have set up a lovely chicken coop and run and they will have some fantastic outdoor wild space to roam free. Our children will learn so much from the experience and we look forward to our children being little chicken farmers and experience collecting freshly laid eggs.
